VI. All Ages Movement Project

I illustrated a page in the upcoming book "The All-Age Movement Project: A Manualfesto for Youth and Music Space in Every 'Hood" I'm really exciting about this project because I grew up going to all-ages show, so this means a lot to me. Here's what AMP says about the book: The book is a guide to help people start all-ages spaces in their communities, using a group of amazing organizations to highlight some of the most important factors of starting all-ages spaces - organizational structures, finding funding, finding space and being self-sustaining. Some organizations featured in the book are: 924 Gilman (Berkeley, CA), Cave 9 (Birmingham, AL), Youth Movement Records (Oakland, CA), AS220 (Providence, RI), ABC No Rio (NYC), Batey Urbano (Chicago, IL) and the Vera Project (Seattle, WA). A few stats about the book: - The book is written by co-founder of Seattleís Vera Project, Shannon Stewart, and members of the AMP network from across the country. - The book is being designed by Seattle-based designer and publisher, Jacob McMurray. A few of you have worked with Jacob before and know how amazing his book and poster designs are. Please check outÝhttp://jacobmcmurray.blogspot.com/Ýif youíre not familiar with his work. - A compilation CD will accompany the book featuring Mt. Eerie, No Age, Kimya Dawson and Casiotone for the Painfully Alone. - The book will be distributed by Sub Pop Records and AK Press

VIII. My First Time Curating

I'm curating for the first time for this gallery in Portland, Oregon. www.fontanellegallery.com it's a group show of my favorite album artists called "Long Live The Ephemeral" the opening is in March 2009 here's the artists confirmed in the show so far: Sam Mcpheeters, Rich Jacobs, Jordin Isip, Melinda Beck, Marck McCoy, Ashley Macomber, Brian Roettinger, Adam Juresko, Christopher Norris, Chris Taylor, Drew Speziale, Brandon Evans, Seripop Raymond Pettibon Gee Vaucher Marcel Dzama

here's a rough statement i wrote for the show: Long Live The Ephemeral

As a teenager, The Ephemeral, the printed album cover was my beginnings of any type of an art collection, The card stock that wrapped the vinyl records was more then just the packaging to me. It gave a greater understanding of the ideas, and emotion of the music. Even back then the album buyer was already a niche audience. The close knit "Do It Yourself" culture spawned creative relationships and friendships between with bands, labels, and artists. Often times a band member ran the record label and created the art for the record. This DIY culture influenced and inspired people to start countless bands and records labels. It also inspired people to create non musical ventures, design companies, printing companies, and so on.The records, the culture and this community introduced me to some of my favorite artists and thus inspired me to get a BFA degree in illustration. Long Live The Ephemeral is an exhibition of my favorite album artists. These artist represent the influences of the past and the inspiration of the future in art, design, and the relationships with music.

IXI. Exquisite Book I have been asked to put work in this project. This is what they have to say: The Exquisite Book is a project based on the Surrealist game called the Exquisite Corpse. The book will be a modified version of the game, played by one hundred contributing contemporary fine artists, illustrators, designers and comic artists. There will be ten groups of ten artists participating in the process. Each artist will contribute one page to the book. The first artist will be given a few words to inspire their drawing. Each of the following artists will see only the page that immediately precedes their own. Each artist will use images (and optionally, words) to create their continuation to the story, and the inspiration for the next artist in line. Besides continuing the story of the last artist, there is another, more visual, connection between the pages. Each artist must have a horizon line in their image that starts on the left side of the page and ends on the right. Where the horizon line of the first artistís page ends, is where it begins for the next artist. Each artist will be given two weeks to complete their page. If all goes smoothly, the process will take five months. The book will be designed by Also and published by Chronicle Books in 2010. check out. www.exquisitebook.com

"The Scout Motto is: Be Prepared. A child falls into water- a Scout is prepared to save it. Someone breaks an arm -a Scout is prepared with first aid. A burning building, a life in danger- a scout is prepared, because he is trained and knows in advance what to do.
